Haydn House Eisenstadt
The lovingly restored baroque Haydn House in Eisenstadt is one of Burgenland’s major cultural attractions. Joseph Haydn acquired the house in 1776 when he was employed as court conductor at Esterházy’s court, and lived there for twelve years. Today the rooms still feature the original furniture and precious rarities such as the pianoforte dating from 1780 and the organ table from the Bergkirche. Other exhibits include prints of some of his most famous compositions including the oratorio “The Creation” and other Haydn memorabilia such as paintings and his bust. Every year the Haydn House stages special exhibitions on Joseph Haydn as well as other famous composers.
