Mozart's Birth House
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on 27th January 1756 in Getreidegasse, the heart of Salzburg. The exhibition rooms in Mozart’s home give a good idea of how the musical genius used to live.
The museum extends over 3 floors. The exhibition’s centerpiece are Mozart’s original instruments and portraits. Other items include typical Salzburg-style furniture and objects plus articles of daily use from Mozart’s times. The museum also includes themed sections and changing special exhibitions. “Mozart at the Theater”, for instance, illustrates the different styles of the different stage directors throughout the decades.
